Lake
View Raceway was located behind the CUC power plant on Northsound
Rd.

The
course was 0.9 mile long and has 7 corners. The surface consisted
of silt that has been dredged from North Sound. It was similar
to clay in consistency and gots very hard when is had been
driven on for a while. When it hasn't been driven on however
it is closer to racing on gravel, but as the race goes on,
the line tightens while the off line stays very loose. It
made mistakes and off line wanderings very costly to position.
Also, when it rained the hard areas got ice slick and the loose
areas turned into mud. Top speeds on a fast days had been clocked
in excess of 75mph around the sweeping turn 3. The pole qualifying
was usually in the area of 1:03:00, but the fastest qualifying
lap ever was set by in 1997 by #20 Andy Bodden in a Toyota
Turbo Starlet with a time of 59.53 seconds.
The track will be missed by all those who raced on it and the CMA is forever gratefull to Mr. Jay Bodden and family for allowing us to use the land as long as we did.
